  • Offering you set attendance days
  • Asking for your commitment to attending these and structuring your week to enable this
  • Expectation to inform us if you are unable to come in at any time
  • Planning your work with you
  • Offering you a support plan to structure your development and set yourself goals

build self confidence, both socially and in a working environment by;

  • Ensuring Step Forward is a safe, welcoming, and supportive environment for you
  • Helping you develop the woodwork skills to build various projects and take pride in your achievements
  • Helping you develop work and other skills that allow you to feel more confident in yourself and your ability
  • Offering opportunities as appropriate to be involved in how we structure the service

Develop a variety of skills that can be useful not just in a working environment but also in general life, by

  • The above structures and training
  • Training you in the safe use of our range of tools and machinery
  • Offering occasions short courses of interest (e.g. Health & safety)
  • Offering opportunity to take on responsible roles in the workshop
  • Helping you address social and interaction problems

Although we encourage you to aim for as high a standard as you can, we don’t get ‘hung up’ on what standard of woodwork you do achieve - we’re not trying to turn everyone into joiners. It’s the range of other skills that you can develop that we hope will make you feel more confident and ready to move on.
