Step Forward offers training and support structured activity in a wood workshop setting. We are funded mainly by Moray Council and NHS Grampian, with other smaller amounts sourced from other funders.
The aim of the project is to be a ‘stepping stone’ for those looking to move on in their lives; perhaps to full or part-time employment, voluntary work, training, or further education.
The setting provides a re-introduction to a working environment, where clients can get back into the kind of routines and commitments expected in work and re-gain the stamina for a working day. The woodwork training helps to build skills as well as self-confidence. At our workshop in Pinefield, we build and repair a range of wooden garden and household items, which we sell to the public.
The service works in partnership with employment support services and Jobcentre Plus. After a time at the project we would expect clients to link in with one of these to begin exploring your future options.
Anyone interested in attending can phone to arrange an informal visit to look round and have a chat. Before formally joining, we offer each new client 6 week initial placement to make sure it’s the right step.
